A patch of 282 square km was established in 1955 and named Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary. Declared a Project Tiger reserve, in the year 1973, the patch was now known as Ranthambore National Park. It is now one of the most renowned and most extensive national parks in the Northern part of the country. Located in the district of Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, the sanctuary accommodates many flora and fauna species. This tourist attraction as a result has also drawn the keen attention of wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.

Things to do at Ranthambore National Park
Wildlife:
There exists a diversity of wild animals like the infamous Royal Bengal Tiger. The variety includes leopards, several species of deer like chital, sloth bears, marsh crocodiles, jackals, palm civets, serpent eagle, and desert fox, all constituting around 35 species of reptiles, 40 species of mammals, and more than 300 bird species. The famous ones include Tigers, Striped Hyenas, Nilgai, Common and Hanuman Langurs, Jungle Cats, Macaques, Indian False Vampires, Five-striped Palm Squirrels, Indian Flying Foxes, Gerbilles, Mole Rats, porcupines, hedgehogs, Mongooses, and that’s not even the complete list. The park also accommodates Marsh crocodiles, Snub-nosed marsh crocodiles, desert monitor lizards, Tortoises, cobras, banded kraits, turtles, Indian Python, Rat Snakes, Saw-scaled Vipers, and Russelโs Vipers.
Bird Watching:
Ranthambore National Park also accommodates numerous species of birds. This makes this park a birding destination in India. The species include waterfowls, serpent eagle, painted spurfowl, cormorant, bronzed-winged jacana, sarus crane, sandpiper, night jar, and kingfisher. The migratory birds make this place their home in the winter season and most of the species can be found and spotted near the area of lakes- namely, Padam Talao, Rajbagh, and Malik Talao.

Gypsy Safari:
Through Ranthambore Safari booking options, you can reserve a gypsy for your safari/tour. The vehicle can accommodate up to 6 people and is available for safaris in the morning and the evening. There exist 10 eco-tourism zones in Ranthambore, and safari by gypsy is allowed in all of them. However, you can also opt for a canter safari if you want. Gypsies should be booked 90 days prior after you provide essential ID proofs and other details. Gypsy Safari is the ideal choice for tiger sighting, photography, and bird watching in Ranthambore National Park. It is advised to book them prior but for safari bookings at the last minute, we have the facilities.
Canter Safari:
Canter Safari stands to be the best way to explore nature on a jungle safari. A canter is an open bus that can accommodate up to 20 people and operates in some of safari zones. It is advised to book the canter 90 days prior. But, the service facilitates last-minute bookings too.
